Investor Onboarding: How to Connect Your ACH Bank Account and Transfer Funds to the Portal



  1. Logging In and Accessing Bank Accounts:

    • After logging in, you will be directed to the “My Portfolio” screen.
    • On the left-hand side, click “Bank Accounts” to start connecting your ACH account.
  2. Confirming Your U.S. Address and Social Security Number:

    • The system will ask if you have a U.S. address and social security number. Select “Yes” if applicable.
    • When entering your information, ensure that it matches exactly what is on your driver’s license or ID. For example, if your ID shows a Boston, Massachusetts address but you currently live in California, use the Boston address.
  3. Agreeing to Terms and Conditions:

    • After confirming your information, click “Agree and Continue.”
    • You will be asked to agree to the terms of Dwolla, the service that facilitates ACH account connections. Check the box and click “Agree and Add Bank.”
  4. Check Your Email for a Passcode:

    • After clicking to add your bank, check your email for a passcode and two emails from Dwolla confirming the connection process.
    • Enter the passcode into the portal and click “Submit.”
  5. Using Plaid to Connect Your Bank Account:

    • Plaid, a secure third-party service, will populate on your screen. Plaid is used by many well-known companies to connect bank accounts.
    • You have the option to use your phone to connect your account or proceed as a guest.
    • If your bank is listed, follow the prompts to connect. If your bank is not listed, close the window and continue to the next step.
  6. Manually Connecting Your Bank Account:

    • If you couldn’t find your bank using Plaid, you can manually input your bank account information.
    • Click on the option to manually connect and enter your account nickname (e.g., Bank of America), account type (e.g., savings), account number, and routing number.
    • Review the information, agree to the terms, and click “Save.”
  7. Confirming Your Bank Account Connection:

    • After clicking save, your bank account will be connected to the portal, ready for use.
  8. Sending Money to the Fund Manager:

    • To transfer funds, go to the “Transfer Money” section.
    • Select the connected bank account from the dropdown and input the amount you want to send.
    • Remember, ACH transfers take up to five business days, accounting for weekends and holidays.
  9. Expediting with Wire Transfers:

    • If you prefer a faster option, click “Wire Transfer Instructions” to access the wire details.
    • Wire transfers occur outside the portal. You’ll need to log into your bank’s website or visit your bank in person to initiate the wire using the provided instructions.
